Nature talk
I have been watching flocks of birds this month. I think the bee-eaters have done well with over 40 flying over. House sparrow flocks also seem larger with over 30 at the farm at the end of the road and around twelve at La Bastide. Great to here them chirrup. Swallows are starting to amass and will come to the swimming pool to drink, swooping in to take some water on the wing. A night drive reveals the nightjar, quite often seen sitting on the road, they are crepuscular and I hear them call most evenings. At the end of the summer like all the summer migrants will return to their winter haunts.
Well, it's the end of the month, I enjoyed cycling to the beach, so much so, that I plan to explore the area....by bike. The kids had a great time crabbing, swimming or body surfing. The beach bars did great food and apart from breakfast, we ate out. We were on holiday after all.

Guests have all left and its good to see the positive reviews either via written feedback or on HomeAway from the UK, France and the Netherlands. Due to Covid-19 our season has been very short, however next year I believe we will be very busy as people will want a more local and safe holiday. Coming from the UK via Eurotunnel mitigates the use of airports, which I think some people will want to avoid.
The children go back to school on 1st September, Charlie will start at college in Lautrec and is apprehensive (Tom is already there) and Evie in Moulayrès with her best friend Anna. As I write it's been a warm afternoon, and I spent some time eating figs and damsons straight from the tree....yum.
